We’ve been part of the Whitby community for 30 years. Our purpose built rooms at the Lakeside Centre are fitted with the latest equipment to help us provide the best possible care to our patients.
You will find that we have a relaxed atmosphere in the practice and give our patients time to discuss any concerns.
Dentists
Dr. Nick Song
Nick completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Otago in 2008. Since then, he has gained valuable experience working in both rural and city practices. Nick is a highly skilled dentist who takes pride in providing excellent, professional care. He is experienced at dental implant work and offers sedation options. Nick is fluent in both English and Chinese Mandarin.
Outside of work Nick enjoys spending time with his young family and is delighted to call Whitby home.
Hygienist
Dr. Sophie McKenna
Sophie completed her Batchelor of Dental Surgery in 1995 at the University of Otago. As a new graduate she worked in Upper Hutt then in Paraparaumu, before buying her own practice in central Wellington in 1999. With children to manage, Sophie merged her dental practice with her husband’s in 2002 and worked happily in Thorndon until his recent injury which altered the family priorities. She is delighted to join Whitby Dental and be much closer to home.
Sophie’s practicing interests are based around general dentistry for families and sharing her knowledge to help patients understand how to best care for their mouths and not need her so much! She runs a volunteer dental clinic at DCM in central Wellington, is on the Wellington executive (which runs the Wellington branch of the NZDA), does some work with the Dental Council and is also kept busy with their lifestyle block, favouring gumboots over other shoes.
Annette Jarvis
Annette joins the Whitby Dental team in 2022 with 18+ years of clinical experience. Her gentle hands and kind approach is reflected in her loyal patients and the huge results for her patients in gaining and maintaining outstanding oral health. Annette’s passion for excellent care, service, and creating proud smiles is still her daily motivation since graduating form Otago University in 2003. Annette will empower you to take control of your own oral health excellence!
Outside of work, Annette enjoys spending her time with her 2 amazing teenagers and hubby. She is also part of the WUHA and Underwater Hockey Committee.
